What does it mean to be self-empowered?
The word “empower” simply means to “become powerful”, therefore, a self-empowered person is someone who takes control of their own life and doesn’t allow others to control it for them.
Let me guess what you all are thinking, “easier said than done”, right? Don’t worry! We completely understand how simple this sounds and in practice, how complicated it can be.
So, below we’ve come up with some baby steps for you, that will help you slowly take back control of your lives.
As once said by the famous writer, Lalah Deliah –
“Self-care is how you take your power back”
Self-care stands for everything that you deliberately do to promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Self-care can be practiced by doing any activity that makes you feel happy. It could be eating healthy, exercising, or treating yourself with a spa day!
This may sound simple but many of us pay very little attention to self-care. Scheduling time for yourself to relax and rejuvenate will encourage you to maintain a healthy relationship with yourself and it will also transmit good vibes to others.
A very important component of living a self-empowered life is setting achievable goals for yourself. Setting up small milestones towards your big goal and achieving those milestones first will really make you feel good about yourself and keep you motivated.
Surround yourself with positive people
Laughter is contagious, and so is negativity and pessimism. Surrounding yourself with motivated people who you share the same mindset with can make you feel empowered to and motivated to fulfill your dreams.
Talking from personal experience, on days when I feel like my confidence and self-esteem has hit the rock bottom, I call the people that make me happy. Just after 30 minutes with them, I am again ready to take on any challenge in the world!
It is very important to focus on what you can do as opposed to what you can’t to live a self-empowered life. For example, if you wish to become a fashion designer one day but don’t know how to sew, never say “I can’t sew”. Instead, say “I can’t sew yet. I can learn.”
Leading a self-empowered life will make your feel so much happier, fulfilled and satisfied. Try and above listed tips and see for yourself!
